2008 Chardonnay - NEW VINTAGE - SOLD OUT This is a brilliant, bright yellow gold Chardonnay with a delicious swirl of fresh nectarine and peach, creamy oak and some herbaceous lime leaf adding complexity. With time a bread crust and nut meal spectrum evolves from the glass. On the palate, it is a typical clean and bright fruit driven Woodside Chardonnay. A seamless classy oak structure backed by a long citrus acid line provides a strong framework for ageing. Again stone fruit flavours dominate with attractive apricot pastry characters and a luscious lingering white peach sticking in the mouth for great length. Showing excellent balance matched with genuine fruit power.	2007 Merlot - NEW VINTAGE A dark garnet red Merlot that displays juicy satsuma plum and ripe currant fruit with finely ground cocoa aromas derived from well matched oak. A great year for Merlot and this wine has a vibrant and deep plum flavour complemented again by a moorish cocoa dust character. Very tightly knit tannin provides a wonderfully complete mouthfeel from start to finish and contributes to a smoothness and elegance that sets this wine apart from many of the fleshier merlots. Plenty of quality oak support adds to the pedigree and one would expect a nice complement of cigar box aromatics will develop in time and take the wine to another level.
2007 Shiraz - NEW VINTAGE This stylish Shiraz displays a deep violet red hue appearance. On the nose, there is a suggestion of decadence with distinctive blackforest cake characters of dark cherries, cream and chocolate bursting from the glass. Further assessment reveals festive cranberry and spice aromas. The palate has a nice cherry fruit concentration and length matched by an intriguing smoky/savoury French oak quality. It is generous and full bodied without alcoholic warmth and has an evenly distributed, gentle and velvety tannin. A Shiraz with dark fruit and a hint of cinnamon spice, it should provide for rewarding medium to longer term cellaring.	2007 Cabernet Sauvignon - NEW VINTAGE A deep ruby/garnet red Cabernet Sauvignon that displays classic Margaret River cassis, dusty leaf and mocha characters on the nose. At a lower intensity a semblance of warm, wafting blueberry pie draws the attention briefly away from the primary fruit aromatics. The palate is wonderfully deep and its dark cassis fruits linger without being over ripe. The fruit tannin has a fully developed, cracked walnut ripeness lending an ideal drying texture to this layered fine Cabernet. Firm but super fine oak structure builds and persists with the flavour profile evolving time and again for minutes after tasting. Will drink very well early but the true potential of this wine will not be revealed for more than a decade.
2009 Le Bas Chardonnay - NEW VINTAGE It is the pristine regional fruit expression and cleanliness of winemaking that gives this wine such an appealing nose. Grapefruit and white peach along with the perfume of flowering stonefruit capture the essence of the primary fruit, while classy French vanilla aromas rise from beneath to complete a glorious bouquet. On entering the mouth the wine asserts its vibrant nectarine and peach flavour profile with a burst of accompanying lemony acid. There is again that wonderful sense of cleanliness in both flavour and the powerful but seamless, tight oak structure. Oak flavour progression is a delight moving from fresh spicy wood characters gently into a fuller toasty spectrum, lingering on the back palate as a delicate char. Lees handling rather than any use of malo has built a creaming mouthfeel into the mid and late palate which adds complexity and helps balance this powerful dry wine. Showing excellent generosity of flavour and length, this Chardonnay has an unshakeable line running through its core suggesting it is a 10 year plus proposition for cellaring.
2007 Le Bas Chardonnay - SOLD OUT With a lively and brilliant yellow colour, this Chardonnay opens itself to an abundance of ripe freshly cut peach, nectarine and high toned French Oak toast characters. The palate is stunning, defined by impeccable acid line and length with satisfying ripe citrus and stone fruit flavour persistence. The expansive mouthfeel is structured with flavour building through lemony/grapefruit zest to peach, finishing with a long cleansing citrus tail. With a bright ruby-violet spectrum, the palate displays black forest with a combination of cherries, chocolate and cream eventually evolving into a stronger licorice and black pepper. Tannin builds to a tight focus and combined with the spicy/leafy finish, gives the wine a gamey quality, with an attractive oak appeal.
